Liverpool remain “confident” of signing Calvin Ramsay this summer as they continue talks over a deal.
The Aberdeen defender has impressed since breaking into the first team and had a host of clubs chasing his summer signing.
But Liverpool have been frontrunners from the start and are looking to take him south of the border and hope they can get the deal done.
But transfer guru Fabrizio Romano says a deal has yet to be agreed and Aberdeen are holding out for a fee that would end up being worth £8.5m.
Liverpool are believed to have offered an initial £4m upfront and the rest will be made up of add-ons and that could see Ramsay head to Merseyside ahead of the new season.
Jurgen Klopp has seen competition from Leeds United to try to sign Ramsay, and wants him to be Trent Alexander-Arnold’s understudy.
Aberdeen are ready to cash in if the deal suits them and it would also provide Jim Goodwin with the funds to rebuild his squad after taking over in February.
The Dons had a nightmarish season last time out and finished 10th in the Premiership and want a major improvement in the new campaign.
