ASRock Industrial Announces Intel Elkhart Lake Mini PCs and Mainboards

The processors of the Intel Atom x6000E series, Celeron and Pentium Elkhart Lake for IoT Edge applications were launched in September 2020.

ASRock Industrial took more time to announce its Elkhart Lake offerings with three families of hardware platforms with Mini PCs from the NUC 6000 BOX and IBOX 6000 series as well as the NUC 6000 motherboard series.

We’ll look at the three families in more detail below, mainly using information from products based on Celeron J6412, one of the newer Elkhart Lake processors released in the first quarter of 2021.

ASRock NUC 6000 motherboard series

The Product page lists drivers for Windows 7/8/10 but there is no word on Linux support.

ASRock NUC 6000 BOX series

ASRock Elkhart Lake NUC mini PCAs you can imagine, the NUC 6000 Box series is based on the NUC 6000 mainboard with the following main features:

  • Mainboard – ASRock NUC 6000 mainboard series with either an Intel Celeron J6412 (standard) or an Intel Pentium J6426 as described above
  • Wireless – Intel Wireless-AC 3168 module
  • Other – Kensington lock
  • Dimensions – 110.0 x 117.5 x 47.85 mm
  • Temperature range – operation: 0 ° C ~ 40 ° C; Storage: -40 ° C ~ 85 ° C
  • Certifications – CE, FCC Class A.

Mini-PC with USB 3.2 connectionsThe Mini-PC is supplied with a 19 V / 65 W power supply unit, a screw package and a VESA bracket. ASRock Industrial specifically only lists Windows 10 in the “OS Support” section of the specifications the product page. It appears to be actively cooled with a fan.

ASRock iBOX 6000 Series Fanless Elkhart Lake Embedded Box PC

iBOX-J6412The iBox 6000 series has similar specifications, but the company also offers a fanless Embedded Box PC with Atom x6000 processors and an additional USB 2.0 port.

Fanless Embedded Box PC with Elkhart LakeThis model also seems to be based on the ASRock NUC 6000 motherboard series as the port layout is practically the same except that they likely used the internal USB header to add an additional USB Type A port on the front panel to add. It is only astonishing why they do not offer the mainboard separately with the Atom processors … You can also find further details on the Product page.

There is no public pricing information for the motherboard or computers, and there may never be any targeting “IoT and Industry 4.0” applications.
