Cherries agree fee with Peterborough for Siriki Dembele

CHERRIES have agreed a commission with Peterborough United to sign winger Siriki Dembele.

As reported by Sky Sports, Cherries will now seek to agree personal terms with the 25-year-old, ahead of tomorrow’s 11pm transfer deadline.

Dembele has been attracting Cherries’ interest for much of the month.

Peterborough director of football Barry Fry revealed last week that they had turned down two offers from Cherries for the former Grimsby Town ace.

Birmingham City saw an accepted offer, worth around £1.5million, but Fry explained that Dembele had turned down their advances, with Cherries potentially his preferred choice.

Blackburn Rovers would have lined up a late move for Dembele on Sunday morning, but the Cherries have now stolen a march on their rivals by agreeing a deal with Peterborough.

Dembele has made 24 appearances for Posh in the Championship this season, scoring five goals and providing two assists.

He played a key role in Peterborough’s promotion from League One last season, scoring 11 goals and setting up a further 14.

But he is now set to say goodbye to London Road and become Cherries’ third signing for the January window, following in the footsteps of James Hill and Ethan Laird.

Discussing Dembele’s potential departure earlier this week, Fry said: “There’s no way we’re selling him on transfer deadline day.

“Because that wouldn’t give us time to sign a replacement.”
