According to reports, the president has ordered that candidates who withdraw at the March 26 national party convention held at Eagle Square in Abuja be reimbursed for the money they spent on forms.
But speaking to reporters at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, after a closed meeting with the party’s national chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, Akume, who led a delegation of Benue APC stakeholders to the secretariat, said Buhari said no such thing, adding that the 20 million naira he used to purchase forms was a donation to the party.
Akume was one of the contenders for the position of national president. The party had set N20 million for expression of interest and nomination forms for this slot.
