Contraflow driver on the highway. 400 net of impaired charge

Seguin Township man charged in connection with early morning incident near Quarry Road on Sunday

A vehicle traveling southbound on the north lanes of Highway 400 was safely stopped by officers from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment near Quarry Road Tay Township, after responding to a call from a motorist around 3:24 a.m. on May 22, 2022.

Officers spoke with the driver after he moved to a safe location on the freeway and opened a drunk driving investigation which resulted in the following criminal code driving charges for the driver of the vehicle Michael Mullen, 60, of Sequin Township.

  • Dangerous operation
  • Impaired driving – alcohol
  • Impaired driving – blood alcohol level (80 and over)

The accused was released on a recognizance to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on June 9, 2022 and also faces a driver’s license suspension and vehicle impoundment as directed by the Ministry of Transportation ( ADLS)

Over the Victoria Day weekend, OPP officers also conducted 12 RIDE spot checks at random locations around the detachment area, checking 370 drivers and vehicles in the interest of road safety.
