EU Chargé d’Affaires challenges Federal Minister for Law and Justice

Thomas Seiler, Chargé d’Affaires, Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Pakistan received on Monday the Federal Minister of Law and Justice, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar.
According to the ministry spokesperson, issues of mutual concern were discussed at the meeting.

Federal Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar said Pakistan has a strong social and political bond with the European Union and has always played its part for the welfare of the Pakistani people and for the betterment of the system.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen bilateral relations.
Thomas Seiler praised Pakistan’s human rights and women’s rights legislation.

The Minister of Justice has stressed the importance of a strong judicial system in building a just and fair society. He also underlined the importance of the continuous training of young lawyers at the bar level.

Thomas Seiler ensured the full cooperation of the EU in the training of young lawyers at bar level.

It was also agreed to establish a Center of Excellence within the Lahore High Court Bar with mutual cooperation. The Center of Excellence would provide technical and professional support to young lawyers. This would be the first pilot project at the Lahore High Court Bar which would later be extended to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and remote parts of Pakistan.
