GP ReCyko Pro 800 AAA 800mAh Review: Hold Their Charge

A great set of batteries, the ReCyko Pro 800 AAA 800mAh GPs have it all: they hold a charge well, last a long time and offer a decent capacity. However, the competition is tough. Depending on current prices, higher capacity or longer duration options are available.

  • Hold charge for up to five years
  • Autonomy of 1500 charging cycles
  • High capacity in my tests

The inconvenients

  • More sustainable alternatives available

  • TypeThese are AAA NiMH batteries.

  • CyclesThese batteries last 1500 cycles

Designed to deliver the same kind of features you might expect from alkaline batteries, the ReCyko Pro 800 AAA 800mAh GP delivers a decent amount of power and will last through many charge cycles.

However, the competition is very tough at this price.

Design and Fees

  • Lasts 1500 charges
  • Retains 70% charge after five years

The main advantage of alkaline batteries is that they retain their charge for a long time when not in use. The ReCyko Pro 800 AAA 800mAh GPs are designed to perform the same way: after five years, the batteries will retain 70% of their charge. This makes it a good choice for low-power devices such as remote controls, where for most of the time the batteries will be redundant. Only Eneloop AAA retain their charge longer.

Moreover, the ReCyko Pro 800 AAA 800mAh GPs are designed to last a long time, for 1500 charging cycles. That’s much longer than most competitors except the Eneloop AAA, which lasts 2100 cycles.

Even so, this combination of longevity and recharge cycles makes the GP ReCyko Pro 800 AAA 800mAh a good choice also for high-drain devices, such as small cars.

  • Consistent performance
  • High capacities

To measure the performance of the ReCyko Pro 800 AAA 800mAh GPs, I put them through a series of standard tests using the Ansmann Energy XC3000 battery tester. First, I measured the initial voltage, which should be a minimum of 1.2V for NiMH batteries. The GP ReCyko Pro measured a decent 1.32V.

Then I used the high drain test (600mA +/-20% with 0.94V cut-off voltage) to measure the capacitance. Although the rated capacity is 800 mAh, these batteries registered a higher 834 mAh.

Running 50 charge and drain cycles, I measured capacity every 10 cycles to see how performance accumulated over time. I found the results to be very consistent, as you can see below.

Should I buy it?

If you need batteries that can hold their charge for a long time and last for years, then these are a good choice.

There are cheaper options for those who need to buy in bulk, as well as more durable and higher capacity options.

Final Thoughts

Offering a decent capacity, a high number of charge cycles and excellent charge retention, the ReCyko Pro 800 AAA 800mAh GP is an excellent battery pack for those who need units for low-drain use or those who are looking they can quickly cycle for usage time. and once again.

The main problem is that the competition is strong: the Eneloop AAAs last and hold a charge longer, while the Ansmann Micro AAA 1100mAh have a much higher capacity.

How we test

Unlike other sites, we test every rechargeable battery we review thoroughly over an extended period of time. We use standard tests to properly compare features. We will always tell you what we find. We never, ever accept money to review a product.

Learn more about how we test in our ethics policy.

We use an Ansmann Energy XC 3000 to drain the batteries, so we can test the mAh capacity. After the first cycle, we charge and discharge 50 times, measuring capacity every ten cycles.

We measure the initial voltage of the batteries by checking that the starting voltage is at least 1.2 V.
