Brown is one of the highest-grossing unrestricted free agents this offseason. The left tackle started all 17 games for the Seattle Seahawks in his fifth year with the team. The 36-year-old was also named as a Pro-Bowl injury replacement for the San Francisco 49ers tackle. Trent Williams. Brown has been one of the most consistent offensive linemen in recent seasons. Although knee injuries have been a problem and his practices have been infrequent, Brown hasn’t missed a game over the past two seasons. He also ranks seventh in offensive tackles in pass block completion rate over the past four seasons with a 91.8% win rate.
Brown was drafted with the 26th overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft after a stellar career with the Virginia Tech Hokies. During his nine seasons with the Texans, Brown was one of the NFL’s top tackles, earning three Pro Bowl selections and two All-Pro honors, including First-Team All-Pro in 2012.
Brown was traded to the Seahawks just before the 2017 trade deadline and started 70 games during that span. There were rumors that Brown wanted a new contract before last season, but nothing happened. The Seahawks secured a younger replacement for Brown in this year’s NFL Draft, selecting the nimble offensive tackle from Mississippi State. Charles Cross. The Seahawks are not expected to sign Brown, and there has been no viable interest in the free agent market for the 36-year-old tackle.
There was expected to be some noise for teams to sign him during training camp, however, legal issues may hinder this.
