KARACHI: Nicole Theriot assumed the responsibility of Consul General of the United States Consulate General in Karachi on Saturday.
Most recently, she served as Deputy Chief of Mission and Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince, Haiti from July 2020 to July 2022. She served as Director of Immigration and visa security to the United States National Security Council in the Executive Office of the President (2019-2020), Senior Advisor to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Overseas Citizen Services (OCS) in the office Department of State Consular Affairs (2018-2019), Political Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul (2017-2018), Consul General at the U.S. Consulate in Casablanca, Morocco (2014-2017), and Regional Supervisory Consular Officer assisting 102 consular sections worldwide (2012-2014).
His previous diplomatic postings include Political Officer in Islamabad, Pakistan, Chief Consular Officer for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Deputy Chief Consular Officer in Baghdad, Iraq, Chief Visa Officer in Montreal, Canada, Consular Officer in Paris, France and Information Officer in Lagos, Nigeria. .
Nicole began her career with the U.S. Department of State as an intern at the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya in 1997. She also served as assistant to Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs Maura Harty at the Department of State from 2004 to 2005.
Nicole is the recipient of numerous awards from the US State Department, including Superior Honor Awards for her work on peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan (2018) and her assistance to American citizens in the Eastern Caribbean (2010). Nicole is a career member of the US State Department’s Senior Foreign Service, Officer-Advisor Class.
Consul General Theriot is delighted to celebrate with the people of Pakistan the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our two countries. She will continue to pursue our shared goal of strengthening bilateral U.S.-Pakistan partnerships in trade, investment, clean energy, health, security, education, and other priority areas for our mutual benefit.
