Aminu Tambuwal, Governor of Sokoto State, said Nigeria under President Muhammadu Buhari was directionless.
The governor of Sokoto spoke at an event in Yenogoa, the capital of Bayelsa state, on Friday.
Tambuwal said the citizens are on their own and the government is run as if there is no one in charge.
“So many people make the mistake of saying Nigeria is on autopilot, if an airplane is on autopilot you are sure of safety, you are sure of the direction, you are even sure of a possible landing because there is technological control,” he said. .
“That is not the situation in Nigeria today. Nigeria is directionless, there is no pilot, there is no autopilot. Everyone is alone, even the government is run as if there is no one in charge.
“That is why we have spoken to each other in our party and reached out to other well-meaning patriots to come together to save this country and rebuild it.
“We are in such a state that we are in distress and we need all the hands of the inside and our friends.
“There is insecurity, economic hardship and poor leadership. No state is spared from insecurity, no part of this country is safe and secure at the moment.
“In the current situation of our country, you can’t talk about investment, you can’t talk about development. We must establish peace before talking about rebuilding the country.
Tambuwal traveled the country to consult with stakeholders about his bid for the presidency.
In March, a support group claimed to have purchased the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) presidential nomination and expression of interest forms for him.
