Windows IT management company PDQ.com gave the takeover of. known SimpleMDM, an Apple device management company that uses an intuitive cloud user interface. Financial details of the deal have not been released.

With the takeover, PDQ.com is breaking new ground: Mac and iOS software management. With its existing capabilities that only focus on Windows, the transaction positions PDQ.com as an efficient all-round system administration solution.

Keeping machines up to date is critical to their optimal performance. Inventories must be kept along with company-supplied apps, the version upgrades they have made, and the patches they manage. In addition, an update should be reflected on all machines, no matter how many there are. PDQ.com was only able to do this for Windows prior to the SimpleMDM acquisition.

SimpleMDM covers the entire spectrum of Apple system administration. Device registration and account setup are hassle-free, the company says, promising a support technician is always available within 30 minutes.

Adding Apple Device Management via Acquisition

PDQ.com already has a strategy in place to leverage the capabilities of SimpleMDM. According to CEO Dan Cook, the combination of these two entities will improve PDQ’s existing relationships with system administrators to “keep all types of devices healthy and up to date”. The entire SimpleMDM ecosystem – including its employees, customers and products – becomes part of PDQ. Such a holistic acquisition will accelerate PDQ.com’s growth, according to Cook.

PDQ’s Windows software deployment and inventory reporting capabilities have two highly regarded software management platforms that run for approximately 19,000 companies: PDQ Deploy and PDQ Inventory. PDQ’s solutions cover the entire spectrum of setting up corporate apps and work with start-ups and multinational corporations alike.

Organizations that use PDQ’s services to keep their machines updated include the University of Utah, NASA, Coca-Cola, BMW, HBO, 3M, and others. PDQ strives to make the administration of its solutions as comfortable as possible; Users can download pre-built packages, target specific machines, and deploy them on their schedules.

SimpleMDM’s Apple device management works similarly to PDQ.com’s on Windows; The only difference is that it only works for Apple devices. According to SimpleMDM, the software works with the same efficiency, no matter how many devices are used.

SimpleMDM’s 3,000-strong customer base targets macOS, tvOS, and iOS devices. Well-known customers include Rosetta Stone, Rip Curl, FedEx, Simplehuman, Deloitte, Discovery and Weyerhaeuser.
