Vertiv, a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, has announced the latest version of Vertiv Power Insight, which integrates directly with VMware vCenter Management Platform, the industry’s most popular centralized monitoring application. This is the first version of the Vertiv Power Insight software to provide centralized management functions in vCenter. Vertiv Power Insight v2.4 is now available for download from the Vertiv website.
Designed for users with distributed IT systems and a need for centralized management of their power infrastructure, Vertiv Power Insight is easy to install and use and simplifies the management of UPS systems and rPDUs in these distributed, virtualized environments. Vertiv Power Insight v2.4 enables data center and IT managers to manage up to 100 devices, including Vertiv Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS) and Rack Power Distribution Units (rPDUs), directly from Power Insight software or their vCenter application.
“Today’s networks are more powerful than ever, but also more complex and decentralized and rely on virtualization to maximize their efficiency and reliability. This development has reduced the visibility of critical power protection devices and limited the ability of organizations to respond quickly to problems. Vertiv Power Insight provides the much-needed visibility and control that leads to greater efficiency and availability, ”said Ramesh Menon, vice president, single phase UPS, Vertiv.
The most important addition to Vertiv Power Insight v2.4 is the VMware vCenter plugin for seamless integration with the VMware vCenter Management Platform. This enables virtual machine monitoring, configuration, control and shutdown in a single view and improves application availability through automatic virtual machine migration through VMware vMotion. The new version also includes alarm improvements and management updates.
Vertiv Power Insight aggregates data from up to 100 devices, reducing the need for manual processes and simplifying decision-making for IT managers. It automatically detects devices being added to the network and provides real-time alerts when problems arise, which improves response times and helps businesses prevent or respond quickly to critical events. And if necessary, Vertiv Power Insight protects IT equipment, applications and data by ensuring orderly shutdowns of host and virtual machines.
“With the rapidly increasing digitization of business processes, robust and reliable infrastructure solutions have become the backbone of all remote organizations. Critical power solutions require a central management platform to ensure that the entire IT and power infrastructure is running smoothly and that any inconsistencies can be resolved immediately, ”said Smrutiranjan Das, ASI Head, IT and Management Systems Business, Vertiv. “Our new and improved Vertiv Power Insight software integrates seamlessly with the VMware vCenter Management Platform and enables automatic migration of virtual machines through VMware’s vMotion,” added Das.
